Ice Cream Dawn

Ice Cream Dawn

All night the snow
Like frosty feathers from
A darkened sky.

Fell blanketing the earth
As snowbirds huddled close,
A tight, warm row.

Faint dawn sent rosy streamers
Down the sky.

Smoke curled from chimney  tops,
The rasp of shovels met the walk.

A clattering snowplow broke
The chilly silence and
Shook down flakes from shingled roofs,
All chilly-pearled.

As day crept slowly in.

Awake to find
A fluffy, frosty, fairy,
Ice cream world.
